The Scientific Revolution, Intellectual Modernism
The Renaissance brought a new type of intellect with humanism. With an overemphasis on the ancients such as Aristotle and Galen, little intellectual growth occurred. With the work of da Vinci and others, a new movement began, questioning the once accepted facts.
The Scientific Revolution paralleled the Reformation and radically changed the belief system within the scientific community. With this said, what was the most amazing discovery or thought process created during this time? Explain why you think this is so important?

I thought it was interesting how the scholars fused astronomy and theology to describe where heaven would be.
It was also interesting that a sense of magic was in astronomy-that people thought of what we now know as planets as "heavenly bodies" and "spheres of light." Considering that the science was part theology.
Astrology wasn't really logical thinking, I feel, in today's standards. How could it be defined as a science-even back then-or was it because of the mindset of the age.
Actually according to the book, that thinking was precisely why the professional astronomers sought more precise measurements, but then they "adjusted" them so that they'd fit to old thinking.
That's not science.
Natalee! Your blog name should be "Ang" and you know it!
Goodness gracious, I blogged a lot-sorry Was...
The truely amazing advances camein all fields but mainly astronomy think about it. The true models of the solar system in elpsises occurred around the sun. Newton also at the same time (and same field) discovered gravity.
I thought Newton discovered gravity when an apple fell on his head...
I can't stand these "great" men and their insistance on keeping women as slaves. Yes, I mean slaves. (imagine slaves italicised)
It just makes me so angry that with all this new thinking women weren't equal. Then, those nerds tried to scientifically prove it.
(breathe, breathe)
OH I WISH-that I could take a bat to the heads of those most vile men who depreciated women in those infamous quotes. Then, we'll see who has the truly smaller skull.
WHO'S SUPERIOR NOW!!!!!
Darn-I strayed off point again. Sorry, Was-again.
Watch it, wildfrenchmen, or I'm comin' after you. And it's not because of your comment, it's because you have the words "french" and "men" in your blog name. French men, to me, were the worst mysoginists-they're more feminine than the women.
Sorry for getting off topic, again, again Was-again.
I thought it was interesting that many astronomers would not exclude god from there theories because of the fear of being persecuted or excommunicated, even though many of them proved that the earth was not the center and it was actually the sun.
Hmph, I like Okafor better...
The greatest advance of the Scientific Revolution was when Newton established the 3 Laws of Motion and the gravity that holds everything together. This would not only help to make advances to seeing how the earth itself worked, but also how the universe as a whole worked.
One weakness was that women were left behind. I find it funny how men went so out of their way to prove they were superior, almost as if they wanted to prove it to themselves too. Them and their egos...
Again, I shall get an aluminum bat...and a time machine...
