- How would you organize this one?
Compare and contrast the political and economic effects of the Cold War (1945-1991)
on Western Europe with the effects on Eastern Europe.
Ideas--
- Marshall Plan vs. COMECON
- welfare state vs. communist econmy
- feminism movement vs. communist society
- NATO vs. Warsaw Pact
- EEC vs. Communism
- Free Enterprise vs. Communism
- Toleration of the 1960's vs. Soviet inference in Prague Spring

ehh tricky one, i wouldnt choose this one if i could help it, takes too long to organize my head. if i were to group it at least i would prob do something like this though:
*Plans and Events during Cold War*
*Effects on WEstern Europe*
*Effects on Eastern Europe*
I am guessing this one would be one those 4 paragraph essays right? Either way:
1) thesis paragraph
2) Effects on Western Europe
-Germany divided
-Most of western european states were no longer top powers (Suez Canal incident illustrates British fall)
-Almost all communist parties are discriminated against for fear of communist takeover
3) Effects on Eastern Europe
-Almost all of eastern europe was under soviet control.
-Limited industrial development
-limited rights
-overall Easter Europe (apart of Yugoslavia, Turkey, and Greece) were hindered
4) Concluding paragraph
but you wouldnt you lose points? you need Three major points not two right?
two major points with emphasis on three to four supporting facts would score nicely

Yeah I think I remember Was saying that if the essay calls for you to compare and contrast you can have 4 paragraphs and still do well.
i would do Nato vs. Warsaw Pact
1. Thesis
2. Describe Nato:
- Anti-Communist
-Including U.S.
-Containment agenda
-economically sucessful
3. Warsaw Pact
-Totally Communist
-Members of the Warsaw Pact are all Soviet Satelite states
- Including U.S.
-members are economically unstable ( including Soviet Union)
how about the economic miracle of West Germany and then Great Britain compared to the complete and utter economic implosion of the Eastern bloc???
That is what I was kind of getting at when I said Eastern Europe was industrialy limited.
